A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing three people, including a golden wedding couple, near Boston, USA.

(CNN) Three people, including a couple in their 70s, who were planning to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, were found dead after being stabbed to death at their home in Newton, Massachusetts, on Saturday. Local prosecutors announced on the 26th that a 41-year-old man living in the city was arrested on suspicion of murder, assault and robbery. The three people who died were the husband (73), the wife (74) and the wife’s mother (97) who lived in this house. The body was found by a concerned visitor after the couple failed to turn up for a planned golden wedding at the church that day. Officials dispatched to the scene said the three were stabbed with a knife and struck with a blunt object. An autopsy determined the cause of death for his wife to be multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma. The autopsies of the remaining two are scheduled for the 27th. Prosecutors said it was an indiscriminate act. The suspect was known to the police. Bloody barefoot footprints left at the scene matched those of the suspect. Police identified the suspect from video taken the morning of the crime that showed a man staggering around barefoot and shirtless. Newton is located about 10 miles west of Boston. The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned in court in Newton on Thursday.
